Blore Heath 1459 Detail from a modern representation of Blore Heath, by John Myatt

Pictures

This picture shows the viewpoint, at the end of the road. The photograph is taken facing west. On the left of the picture is the 'Great Hedge', referred to by the medieval chronicler Jean de Waurin. It was behind this hedge that the Lancastrian soldiers formed prior to their attack.

The road in view is part of an ancient bridleway. The hedge itself has been dated at around 1,000 years old.

This picture was taken beneath a horse-chestnut tree towards the western end of the lane (the evidence for this is on the road in the foreground!). This spot is a good vantage point to see Audley's cross over to the NNE (look for the white railings which surround the cross).
