The Fishpool Hoard
The biggest find of gold coins ever made in Britain. In 1966, a horde of gold coins and jewellery was found during building work in the village of Fishpool. It is likely that the coins were planted early in 1464, and were possibly Lancastrian war funds. The hoard is currently held in the British Museum in London and is listed as one of their top ten 'treasures'.

The Dunstable Swan Jewel
Also in the British Museum, the Dunstable Swan Jewel is a Lancastrian livery badge of the highest quality. It was probably owned by a wealthy Lancastrian supporter.

The Towton Battlefield Society
Towton, Yorkshire was the next battle after Blore Heath, fought in 1461, and has a claim to being the bloodiest battle fought on English soil.

The Towton Mass Grave Project
An academic discussion of the archeological examination of skeletons uncovered on the Towton battle field. From examination of the skeletons, it is clear that in life they would have had the appearance of modern athletes. There was physiological evidence of extensive physical exertion over extended periods, which was most probably the rigours of Medieval military training in youth.
One of the skulls has a 'has a healed blade injury which occurred in a previous violent encounter'. Towton was fought two years after Blore Heath. Is it possible that the skull is that of a soldier injured at Blore Heath? A fascinating discussion.

A local primary school produced an online project on the battle of Blore Heath after a visit by some of the re-enactors.

The Roman villa at Hales
Obviously not exactly relevant to the battle, but since Hales is on the southern side of Blore Heath it is worth a link for those interested in the history of the area.

Tutbury Castle near Burton-on-Trent was a residence of Margaret of Anjou during the Wars of the Roses. Although destroyed during the Civil War, the site is still preserved as a visitor attraction and is well worth a visit.
