Blore Heath and Folly Wood under threat

The above picture shows the view from Mucklestone church tower south-west towards Blore Heath. This is the view that Queen Margaret of Anjou is reported to have had as she watched the outcome of the Battle of Blore Heath. In the middle ground of the image Folly Wood is visible, and beyond that, Blore Heath itself.
In the early 90s, a proposal to redevelop this land for sand and gravel quarrying was tabled by large national company, and was fought and defeated by the Blore Heath Preservation Society along with support from hundreds of people from all over the world.
However, Blore Heath and Folly Wood are now under a new threat from quarrying (ie open cast mining for sand and gravel), and once again support is needed to overcome this proposal.
On behalf of the Blore Heath and Folly Wood Action Group, we urge you to show your support by signing the online petition below. At this year's re-enactment, over 300 signatures were obtained in support of this cause. Please note that we will not pass on any details to other unrelated parties, or send out unsolicited email unrelated to this cause.
Blore Heath is one of the very few Medieval battlefields on British soil to be untarnished by modern development, and we request your help in preserving the site for future generations.
I oppose any plans to quarry sand or aggregate from Blore Heath and Folly Wood
